Martin Luther King, Jr. and the longtime keeper of his dream for racial equality and human rights. She was 78. Former mayor Andrew Young broke the news of her passing on NBC's Today show Tuesday morning. According to her sister, Edythe Scott Bagley, King died on the night of her son Dexter's birthday, January 30th, at Santa Monica Hospital, a holistic health center in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, just 16 miles south of San Diego. King had gone to California to rest and be with family. While the cause of death has not been announced, it is thought to be associated with the serious stroke and heart attack she suffered in August 2005.
